I Lifted A Finger And Started To Draw

Hello!
A week
ago, I decided to take on a new journey in life. That is to make my own comic
book because why the hell not, right? I am a fan of comic books anyway, and I
can say that I make pretty decent art. Besides, I also write novels so I guess
I am also good at creating good stories.
One day
the previous week, I just decided to purchase a bunch of paper from a school
supplies store so I could start with my first comic book. I didn’t really need
to buy the other materials since I already have all the basic tools for drawing
because I’m also an artist (see my art blog: TuesieDoodles™). And yesterday, I spent my entire day-off creating characters for the
comic book I have in mind.
It turns
out that creating comic books does not really require a lot of time and effort.
Or maybe because I am already used to drawing stuff and improvising stories.
The best part of it is that I can work on this comic book during my free time!
I don’t really have to find time to draw, I can simply grab a pencil and a
paper whenever I am idle and just doodle away. That’s the reason why I think
this will work for me as I work on a four-by-eleven schedule (four days a week,
eleven hours a day) which means I have more days off work than most working
people. It’s also a good thing that I just moved to a new apartment like two
months ago where I don’t know anybody. Not that I have a social life back home
in Bulacan but at least here at my apartment in Quezon City, I always have my
alone time when I don’t have much to do. So instead of just letting my time
pass by with practically nothing going on, I could just make the time
worthwhile by doing something productive—working on my comic book.
I
finished one page yesterday, it has six panels on it and I really think this
comic book is going to go a long way... and to think I only have just one page
for now. My twin was thrilled when I showed it to her and she thought this
comic book will become a hit. I kept staring at the page entire evening,
imagining how it’s gonna look like when it is already published.
I Googled
some comic book publishers this morning, just in case I’m gonna wanna have this
book published already. But to be honest, I want to start with some zines
first. Just like what Hulyen did with her UGH. She really is my inspiration for
all this. Everytime I’m holding my copy of UGH Vol.1 (First Edition) in my
hands, I get this feeling inside of me that I will someday become like her. I
will have my comic book published for a lot of people to read. One day, I will
have my own booth at comic conferences selling my zines, stickers, shirts and
other stuff. And sooner or later, when my comic book gets published, I’m going
to see them sitting on shelves at bookstores.
